Nomination Committee Announcement

The nomination period is now open for the following positions: (3) Trustees, (1) Church Clerk, (1) Financial Secretary, (1) Financial Membership Clerk, (3) Church Board At-Large Members, (2) Youth At-Large Church Board Members, and (2) Pastoral Relations Committee Representatives. Nomination forms and position descriptions are in the Welcome Center and in the vestibule.  Please obtain permission from the nominee before submitting his/her nomination.  All completed nomination forms must be in the church office by close of business on August 14, 2017.  Incomplete nomination forms will not be accepted.


2017 Vacation Bible School

"Super God! Super Me! Super Possibility!” Vacation Bible School starts this afternoon at 4:30 p.m. and continues this week at 5 p.m. Come out and learn that there is no greater strength than God’s Super Power within. Activities are planned for Pre-K to Adult. 


Men’s Monthly Ministry Meeting

All Mighty Men of Mount Olive, our next meeting is Saturday July 22nd at 10 a.m. in the Music Room. We need all hands-on deck to continue planning our annual Men’s Weekend in September, and join us as we continue our Biblical series on Men as Fathers, Brothers, Mentors and Others and the various roles that we play in today's society.


Women’s Monthly Ministry Meeting

Sisters of the True Vine will meet Saturday July 22nd at 10 a.m. in the Welcome Center.

Save the Date

The Fitness Ministry and A.C.T.S’ First Cancer Awareness Walk will be held on Saturday September 16, 2017. Join others in a walk to cure cancer in all its various forms. 10K and 5K courses will be mapped out as we walk in honor of a cancer survivor or in memory of those who have passed away from Cancer. Place Saturday September 16th on your schedule and be on the look-out for additional information.


PRC Invitation

The Pastoral Relation Committee (PRC) invites members of the congregation to meet us on Sunday July 30th following each of our morning worship services. The PRC exists to provide a regular channel of communication between the pastor and the congregation by receiving your comments, suggestions and concerns regarding Mt. Olive. All information shared with the PRC will be held in the strictest confidence. This month’s meet and greet will be held on the lower level in Room L-30. Youth Church Service Summer Break

The youth church is on break until September. Services will resume September 17th at 11 a.m.


Casual Summer Dress Attire

Mt. Olive is in casual summer attire until Labor Day. Everyone is welcome to dress comfortably for the summer weather.


August Worship Schedule 

Each Sunday in August we will gather at 9:30 a.m. for one worship experience. Sunday School will begin at 8:30 a.m. Please share this time change with your family and friends and come out for joint worship.


August Suspensions

Wednesday night and Thursday midday Bible Studies will be suspended for the month of August starting August 2nd and will reconvene September 6th. Kitchen facilities will also be closed for the month of August.



Community Announcements


Free Lunch for Kids & Teens. The Capital Area Food Bank and Mt. Zion Baptist Church have partnered to provide free lunch to kids and teens up to 18 years old from June 26 until August 4 from 12 Noon to 1 p.m. No registration, just show up. Mt. Zion Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 3500 S. 19th Road, Arlington, VA 22204.

Important Membership Update:  We are currently in the process of updating our membership database and need your participation. Consistent with our Church's Vision Statement, we plan to use this information to foster effective and efficient communication among our membership. Church officials (including ministry leaders) will sometimes use this information to occasionally outreach to you and to notify you of selected church activities, cancellations of events, road/street closures, and other relevant information. We have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and help prevent unauthorized access, maintain data security, and correctly use the information we collect on this profile.  We need for all of our members, including our young adults and youth to have a completed membership profile which is available online for your convenience.  To submit Online, go to Mount Olive's web homepage at www.mtolivebc.org, click on the Resources tab at the top of the page and select Membership Information Update. Parking Notice:  If you park on S. 13th Road in front of the church, please do not block the curb-cut in front of the access ramp that leads to the church entrance.  We have received a request from Metro Access to keep this area clear.  This will allow the drivers to properly assist our disabled congregants in departing from the van in safety. We appreciate your cooperative spirit in helping us to be a welcoming and accessible community.
