Passage: Romans 12:1-2
Duration: 25 mins 4 secs
Unlike other churches, the Roman church had a global reputation and a solid congregation. The church was fine and possessed a full fellowship of believers. However, being in the world full of temptation made it difficult to keep their eyes on the prize. Being in the world presented a problem for this perfect church. In a dog eat dog world, an urban environment focused on money and desire, it was challenging to maintain Christian behavior. Then as now, political power served as a distraction from real power. Then as now, we may crave money, our own power and our own respect. When we do this is it difficult to demonstrate Christian values. In order to close the gap we must offer ourselves in spiritual worship, or reasonable worship. Reasonable worship is right thing to do because of all God does for us. Today on Standing on the Word, pastor Victor reminds us how we are indebted to Him. We owe Him our very lives, our very being. Our bodies serve as a living sacrifice to Him, wherever we are. We should offer Him all that we are as we are here to do His work. Here is pastor victor with today’s message entitled Reasonable worship

In the Israelites’ conquest of Caanan, we are challenged to grasp God’s epiphany to Joshua instructing him to have his army walk around the city of Jericho for seven days, and on the 7th day to walk around seven more times. After doing this, Joshua was told to command his army to sound the trumpet and shout. Indeed, with the sound of the trumpet and a shout, the walls of the fortified city of Jericho did fall down. Here we learn that their worship was used as a weapon. Today on Standing on the Word, pastor help us see that we come to understand that God will use unconventional, seemingly insignificant methods to accomplish wondrous things. We can use our own worship to tear downs the walls we face. Listen now as Dr. Victor shares this message entitled, Worship As A weapon.

Though choirs may be adorned in the finest robes, and ball players may don the latest in court-wear, that doesn’t necessarily mean the choir can sing well, or the ball players can play effectively. This phenomenon is quite a common one and may occur even in our churches. Just showing up in church on Sunday, greeting hospitable ushers, shouting halleluiah at the appropriate times, and answering the whooping (hooping?) preacher, doesn’t always add up a true encounter with Christ. Today on Standing on the Word, pastor reminds us when two or three are gathered in His name to glorify Him, He is in the midst. The Lord speaks to us when we commune together, when we are centered on Him. After all, we are His witnesses here on earth. Pastor expands this thought in this message he entitles The Prerequisite to Worship

Just as David reached out to the Lord for divine assistance as he ran from his father-in-law Saul, who wanted to kill him, we too can reach out for His help, no matter our dilemma. When the Lord intervenes on our behalf, we should do as David did. David vowed to the Lord that he would bless Him at all times. Today on Standing on the Word, pastor victor challenges us to understand what does it mean to bless the Lord. By acknowledging that we owe everything to God, we must first offer ourselves to Him and worship Him authentically. He expounds on this thought in this message entitled From bail-out to Blessing.

At the end of his life, our pastor’s great grandfather said to his son, “Always stick with the church”. Those simple, eloquent words were the legacy he left for him. It may not have seemed immediately apparent, but those words were worth far more than any inheritance he could ever hope to receive. For Inheritances are worldly riches that by their very nature are uncertain. Inheritances are disposable items that do not necessarily prepare the next generations for the future. However, an inheritance pales in comparison to a legacy. Today on Standing on the word, Pastor Victor help us understand that Legacies last beyond one’s years here on earth and are a testimony to what faith in God can do. A legacy assures that fear in the Lord is instilled in us and provides wisdom, as fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Pastor Victor explains in the message he entitles Legacy Builder.

Sometimes scripture will inspire us to go beyond, to do better, and be better. Other times scripture can be corrective. Corrective scripture can cause a paradigm shift. Such a shift changes the usual way of thinking or behaving. Today’s scripture is one that has the power to cause such a shift, the power to transform. Today on Standing on the Word, Pastor Victor starts a new series entitled Practicing An Upside Down faith. From the book of Acts chapter 3, while on his way to temple to worship, Jesus’ disciple Peter healed the lame man begging for alms. Instead of provision for a day, Peter lifted the man who was born lame and gave him healing for a lifetime. Just as Peter knew that ministry is not relegated to a pew on Sunday, wouldn’t this be a better world if we would take our ministry outside of the church? The world needs our attention. We need to take the energy we gain in church out into the world. For the world needs our witness. Listen now as pastor begins this new series with the first installment Doing Ministry from the Outside In.
